PRODUCT NOTICE - PLEASE READ
Before First Use:
For the first use, simply rinse the lid with water (no soap) to eliminate any residual debris from the manufacturing process
Before Grilling:
Before heating, apply a thin layer of cooking oil to the lid to prevent sticking
How to Season:
1. Combine equal parts perilla oil (or sesame oil) with any other cooking oil.
2. Heat the lid on MEDIUM heat until it's hot. Then, using a paper towel, apply a thin layer of the oil mixture.
3, Allow 30 seconds to 1 minute for the oil to adhere/absorb into the surface.
4. Turn off the heat and allow the lid to cool down.
If seasoned properly, you'll notice a shiny, smooth surface. Repeat steps 2 to 4 if necessary.
IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ:
When using a butane gas stove, avoid setting the heat above MEDIUM. The grill retains heat and gradually increases in temperature during the grilling process. Emphasize: NO HIGHER THAN MEDIUM HEAT!
If you plan to store the lid for extended periods, be sure to season the pan before doing so to prevent any rust.
Wrap in newspaper and store in a dry, cool place with air flow. Avoid leaving it in damp or humid environments, as moisture can contribute to rust formation. If storing for an extended period, consider placing a paper towel or cloth between stacked pans to allow air circulation.
When washing, do not use abrasive sponges, such as stainless steel scouring pads, as they have the potential to strip away the seasoning.
Our lids come pre-seasoned. In contrast to China-made cast-iron, which often finishes with chemical glazes, ours is seasoned with food-safe perilla oil.
