Master Woodworking + Healthy Eating
Korean Hinoki Cypress Steamer (2-Story) - Induction Safe
Today, we're thrilled to introduce the Korean Hinoki Cypress Steamer, perfect for whipping-up fast meals of steamed beef, seafood, to assorted vegetables.
The health benefits of steamed foods are immense, offering the full nutritional value without added oils or salts.
What we love about this product is the superb craftsmanship!
The wooden steam boxes and lid are crafted without any nails, screws, or glue.
It exemplifies the art of 'traditional joinery woodworking', where craftsmen meticulously craft precise adjoining wood joints and interlock them into place.
This means no risk of chemical glue or metal residue leaking into your food when being steamed.
Attention to Detail:
This steamer was built with small details in mind. When stacked, the boxes will not shift around (no risk of falling over) or wobble while being steamed. The top lid also lies evenly flat - ensuring that steam does not pool to one area and create uneven heating in the box.

- IMPORTANT USAGE NOTES - PLEASE READ -
Do not cook with wooden handles on!
The wooden handles were intentionally not fixed to the pot because, for those cooking over a gas stove, the flames can extend and potentially burn the wood.
Remember to remove the wooden handles when cooking!
Only place them on after cooking - when moving the pot.
Before cooking - please wet the steamer box and lid
Place the steamer box and its lid under running water, ensuring water seeps from the outside to the inside for at least 3 minutes.
Why? This soaking prevents the wood from absorbing color from the food that you are steaming.
Pay attention to the inside corners of the steamer box - ensure that enough water soaks into this area.
Remember to repeat this soaking process before every use!
How do I cook with the steamer box?
Fill the steamer boxes with fresh meat & ingredients.
Fill the stainless steel pot with about 2/3 full of water and bring it to a boil.
Once the water starts boiling, place the two steamer boxes on top and cover it with the top lid.
Steam for 10-15 minutes only.
Avoid exposing the steamer to prolonged heat - be wary when cooking hard foods like pumpkin, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and corn.
Do not over-pack the steamer boxes with ingredients as it may lead to staining the wood
Place the food inside the steamer box without touching its edges.
Note: This steamer is not suitable for making Korean rice cakes.
How do I properly use the wooden serving trays?
Lay 2-3 kitchen paper towels onto the tray.
Then place the steamer boxes on top.
After use, be sure to wash and thoroughly dry before storing.
How do I properly clean?
Rinse the steamer and pot under running water using a kitchen brush or sponge.
Wipe away any food stains with a small amount of dish soap, then rinse thoroughly under running water.
Note: Avoid simply soaking the steamer in soapy water for an extended period.
Also, never use baking soda for cleaning!
How do I store properly?
Dry the steamer completely - away from direct sunlight.
To prevent mold, ensure good airflow by covering the steamer boxes with the lid flipped upside down (handles facing downwards).
Avoid storing it in overly dry or high-temperature environments.
Dry the stainless steel pot and tray completely with a dry cloth before storage.
Additional notes:
This is made of natual Hinoki Cypress wood.
Hinoki Cypress may naturally expand and contract from regular usage. Consequently, slight gaps may appear over time. Keep in mind that a white surface doesn't always mean the wood is completely dry; complete drying of the wood may take up to 20 days.
If you observe any roughness after use, lightly sand the steamer with 320-grit sandpaper, then wipe it clean.
