On-the-Go Breakfast
[Bangyudang] Misugaru
Misugaru is a nutritious beverage made from a mix of Korean grains.
A variety of Korean grains are ground into a fine powder and mixed with milk or water - to be drunk as a shake. It's quick, tasty and nutritious - filled with protein, vitamins, calcium, magnesium, folate, and selenium. The best part of this shake is that it fills you up while being low on calories. That's why it's one of the most popular on-the-go breakfasts in Korea. (Plus it's caffeine free!)
Bangyudang is a local seed roaster in Gwangju with over 40 years of roasting experience. Their Original Misugaru blend is made with barley, glutinous brown rice and soybeans. They also have a Black Misugaru which is made from 6 different black grains and beans (details below). Bangyudang prides itself in using high-quality, locally-grown grains. They roast the grains at just the right temperature to retain the grains' nutritional value while bringing out its nutty flavor.
Misugaru can be used in many different ways. Drink it cold in the summer. Or mix it with hot milk for a soothing latte. Sprinkle it over ice cream or use it as a topping for patbingsu!
