Introducing Bangyudang, the renowned grain roaster hailing from Gwangju, Korea, with an impressive 50 years of roasting expertise.

Today, we present: Toasted Sesame Oil (Medium-Light Roast).

Unlike cheaper brands, Bangyudang exclusively uses 100% sesame seeds grown locally in Korea - not seeds imported from China.

These Korea-grown sesame seeds undergo a meticulous washing and are then lightly roasted to remove any raw, earthy flavors while preserving a higher amount of original nutrition from the seeds.

(Note: As the seeds are toasted for longer, they lose more nutritional value... but gain a deeper nutty flavor.)

A lighter roast equals higher nutritional value.

This lightly-toasted sesame oil, which is healthier, is perfect for drizzling over raw foods such as salads, blanched vegetables, and namul (wild vegetable) banchans.

Toasted Sesame Oil (Medium-Light Roast)

This oil is made from lightly-toasted sesame seeds (Korea-grown)

The roasting process is tailored to remove any raw acidity or unpleasant odors from the beans, leaving them perfectly lightly-roasted

Ideal for drizzling over raw foods such as salads, blanched vegetables, and namul (wild vegetable) banchans.


Bangyudang Roasting Scale

We roast our seed to 5 different We roast our seeds to five different levels (1-5), with 1 indicating only-drying to 5 representing a strong, high roast. 

This lightly-roasted sesame oil earns the rating of S2 (medium-light roast) 

What does it taste like?

This lightly toasted sesame oil has a light-brown color


This sesame oil is fantastic for Korean vegetable side dishes (banchans), like spinach-muchim (시금치무침)

Add a touch of deep, aromatic nuttiness to freshly blanched and lightly tossed vegetables.

However, do NOT use it as cooking oil to deep-fry foods.

Please store our perilla and sesame oils in a cool, dry place at room temperature (15-25°C) — no need to place in refrigerator


Do not store oil in refrigerator!

High-quality seed oils are sensitive to changes in temperature, moisture, sunlight, and pressure.

Placing the oil in and out of the refrigerator can cause rapid temperature fluctuations, which may lead to potential spoilage.

Simply store the oil at room temperature - in a dry, cool place

Point 1: Far Infrared Roasting

We've integrated our 50+ years of roasting experience with modern technology.

Infrared roasting heats the seeds faster, more uniformly, and at relatively lower temperatures compared to conventional hot air/flame roasters.

It also preserves the natural nutrition and antioxidants in the seeds.


Point 2: Aroma Loss Prevention System

After the infrared roasting process, the seeds undergo a rapid cooling process.

This preserves the nutritional and flavorful integrity of the seeds - minimizing loss of nutrients and taste compounds.


Point 3: Low-Temperature Oil Screw System

Extensive research has revealed that the key health ingredients in the seeds are found abundant in the cell walls.

Therefore, instead of pressing the raw materials with pressure, a system has been developed to finely break down the cellulose in the cell walls for oil extraction. 

This allows for the extraction of the active ingredients within the fibers.

In short, the oil retains the original nutrition of the seeds.


Point 4: Anti-Oxidation Refinement System

To ensure the oil tastes its finest upon receipt, we have minimized its contact with air throughout the production process.

Furthermore, clear oil is produced through the use of extremely fine 'labratory-grade' filters

Also, to maintain product freshness, we operate a system where the 6-layer filters are replaced every 3 hours.
