[Nonghyup] Korean Rice Gochujang (500g)

Made with 100% Korean Rice, Red Chili Powder, Honey

[Nonghyup] Korean Rice Gochujang (500g)

  • Korean rice & chili
  • 4% Korean honey
  • Nonghyup co-op brand
  • 500 g container

Gochujang is the backbone of Korean cooking, and this is an easy everyday one: Nonghyup’s Korean Rice Gochujang (농협 쌀고추장).

It’s made with Korean rice, Korean chili powder and Korean honey, and fermented slowly with Nonghyup’s own recipe for a flavor that’s spicy, savory and a little sweet.

The rice, chili powder, honey, garlic and salt all come from Korea. Nonghyup is Korea’s national agricultural cooperative, and its Nonghyup 100 mark goes on products made mainly from Korean-grown farm produce.

Use it in bibimbap, tteokbokki, stir-fries, stews, marinades and dipping sauces. Honestly, most Korean dishes.

So what’s inside?

Full Ingredients List Fermented rice (Korean rice 42.86%, Korean refined salt 9.46%, yellow koji 0.11%), rice syrup, Korean chili powder 12.82%, sugar, Korean refined salt, Korean honey 4%, alcohol, purified water, Korean garlic, seasoning powder, pregelatinized rice powder and seasoning.

In the box One 500 g container. Made by the Yeongwol Nonghyup processing plant (영월농협가공사업소) in Yeongwol, South Korea, and sold by Nonghyup Foods (농협식품㈜).

To keep Keep it in a cool place away from direct sunlight, and refrigerate after opening. Best before the date printed on the container.

Good to know Contains soy and wheat, so it isn’t gluten-free. Gochujang is naturally fermented, so it keeps releasing a little gas inside the container. We vacuum-seal every container before it ships to prevent leaks, but changes in air pressure during the flight can still push out a little gas or paste. It’s still safe to eat, and a small leak isn’t grounds for a refund or exchange.

Another delicious gochujang

What I really appreciate about these artisan gochujangs is that they are all made with different combinations/ratios of ingredients, and even under different conditions and lengths of time. While every single one I’ve tried from Gochujar’s shop has been top quality, the flavor profile is different.

A bowl of Nonghyup Rice Gochujang with rice stalks, chilies and garlic

Spicy, sweet and made for everyday cooking

The rice, chili powder, honey, garlic and salt all come from Korea, and Nonghyup’s recipe balances the heat of the chili with the gentle sweetness of rice and honey.

It works in almost any Korean dish: bibimbap, tteokbokki, stir-fries, stews, marinades and dipping sauces.

A portion of Rice Gochujang sales goes toward Nonghyup programs that help raise local farmers’ incomes.
