[Bangyudang] Cocoa Misugaru
We're back with more misugaru - this time with cacao!
Bangyudang's Cacao Misugaru is made with real cacao - directly imported from Spain. The cacao is dried, roasted and ground into a fine powder. It's then mixed with a ratio of Korea-grown barley (50%), brown rice (15%) and soybeans (15%).
So what does it taste like? Cacao by itself is like unprocessed chocolate. It's at the stage in its life where no sugar or sweeteners have been added to it. It has a bitter, toasted-chocolate flavor. But cacao is highly nutritious and exceptionally rich in antioxidants that help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation. Hence, it was chosen as a new ingredient for misugaru.
For a healthy breakfast shake, we recommend mixing a few scoops of this Cacao Misugaru with honey and milk (exact ratio listed below).
Misugaru can be used in many different ways. Drink it cold in the summer. Or mix it with hot milk for a soothing latte. Sprinkle it over yogurt or use it as a topping for patbingsu!
I purchased this as part of the 3-colour bundle. One day when making a glass, I noticed that I had a bag of dried cherries sitting on the counter next to the blender, so I threw in a handful instead of adding sweetener. The result was great! The cherry flavour went well with the chocolate, and, of course, you can still taste the multigrain flavour. Now I always use cherries with this flavour of misugaru!
This was a great change to my normal misugaru.
I add anywhere from 2-4 tablespoons of this to smoothies. Have also had it with 8-10oz of milk and 2 teaspoons of honey. I found it easier to mix with an immersion blender rather than my shaker bottle. Has a nutty taste, not super chocolatey. Mouthfeel is slightly thick (not as light as water but not milkshake-thick either).
