This new container has a patented air valve which expels fermentation gases that are released by Kimchi as it ages in the refrigerator.

The breathing valve also prevents any external air from entering the container.

This produces a controlled environment in which the Kimchi can ferment at an even, slow pace. The moisture is locked in and that crunchy texture of fresh cabbage lasts for longer!

The container is made in Korea using Stainless Steel (premium grade 304).

The container will not stain or absorb any smells, which makes clean-up so easy!

The lid has a silicon lining that makes the container leak-proof! You can store all types of Kimchi - including Water Kimchi (물김치)

The lid is also transparent - you can check on the status of your kimchi without opening it!

If you eat or make Kimchi regularly, consider purchasing a special container for it.

If for some reason, you want to manually release a build-up of fermentation gases (or for cleaning) - turn the valve counter-clockwise. To tighten back to its normal (closed) position, turn clock-wise.

1000% worth the cost

I've been looking for stainless steel containers for a while now and that's actually how I found Gochujar. I got the 2,4L container one and couldn't be more pleased. I've used it a few times for a big batch of Radish Kimchi and it works great. For reference: the pictures show the container filled with about 1,8kg of cubed Kohl Rabi (I can't always find good quality Diakon or Korean Radish). The containers are easy to clean and I love how practical the handle is. I'll definitely be getting a second one but then perhaps a smaller size.

I love my new 3L rectangular kimchi container as it’s the perfect size for my one-person household. It is very well made: the quality is excellent, and the clear lid and air valve allows me to check on the kimchi without having to open it. Will be trying sauerkraut next. If you make your own kimchi, I’m sure you’d be happy with this!

Why do I need the Breathing Valve?

Kimchi - as it ferments - releases gases into the air

These gases accelerate fermentation - making the overall look and taste change quickly

When these gases are removed, the Kimchi ferments in a more evenly controlled environment.

Kimchi is juicier, contains higher levels of probiotics and retains that "fresh" crunchy taste for much longer

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ:

Before first use, remove the factory sticker on the air valve.
After removing the sticker, there is nothing more to do!
No need to manually open or close the valve - the valve will automatically release a build up of gas in its normal (closed) position!
If for some reason, you want to release gas manually (or for washing), you can open the valve by twisting counter-clock wise
Return to it's normal (closed) position by turning clockwise, until it locks into place
Please handwash - do NOT place in dishwasher as the lid may warp
