Lighter, Pure Taste of Korean Toasted Sesame Oil

[Happy Jeong-Eun's] Fresh-Pressed Toasted Sesame Oil (Light Roast)

  • 100% Korea-grown sesame
  • Light roast, low-temp pressed
  • 1 ingredient
  • HACCP & benzopyrene-tested

Today, we're excited to introduce Happy Jeong-Eun's Fresh-Pressed Toasted Sesame Oil (행복한 정은씨의 햇참기름).

It's made with 100% Korea-grown sesame seeds and never blended with imported sesame from China or India. Every batch starts with carefully selected seeds that are lightly roasted at low temperatures, then fresh-pressed to keep their natural aroma, flavor and nutrition.

Many producers roast their seeds until they're very dark. That gives a bolder, smokier oil, but it also breaks down more of the seed's natural nutrients, and higher roasting temperatures make benzopyrene more likely to form. Happy Jeong-Eun takes a gentler approach, so this oil has a lighter, less overpowering aroma that lifts your food instead of taking it over, with a clean, elegant finish that's perfect for everyday cooking.

Every batch is made in a HACCP-certified facility and lab-tested to confirm no detectable benzopyrene.

Finish a bowl of bibimbap, season vegetable side dishes, whisk up a salad dressing or dipping sauce, or even make baby food with it: it brings the authentic taste of Korea to every drop.

Happy Jeong-Eun's Fresh-Pressed Toasted Sesame Oil in 160 mL and 270 mL bottles

Clean and pure, fresh-pressed

Made with 100% Korea-grown sesame seeds from Jirisan, never blended with imported sesame from China or India.

The seeds are lightly roasted and pressed at low temperature to keep their natural flavor, aroma and nutrients. The result is a light, balanced nuttiness without the harsh bitterness of heavily roasted sesame oil.

It's regularly tested for benzopyrene, and it's lovely on bibimbap, namul (vegetable side dishes), dressings, dipping sauces, marinades and even baby food.

Sesame oil drizzled over a family meal

Good enough for the ones we love most

We wouldn't settle for anything less than the very best for our own family, so the oil is regularly tested to make sure there's no detectable benzopyrene.

What is benzopyrene? It's a compound that can form when food is exposed to very high heat or smoke. In sesame oil, it can develop if the seeds are roasted too aggressively before pressing. Because it's classified as a potential carcinogen, reputable producers test for it regularly.

Which sesame oil should I choose?

This one is the 햇참기름 (circled): roasted with minimal heat and time, then low-temperature pressed, for the natural nutty taste of the seed.

Use it where you want a healthy, nutty taste without cooking it: baby food, namul, dressings and dipping sauces. Darker, longer-roasted oils are bolder and suit bibimbap, seaweed soup and meat dishes.

How to store sesame oil: away from light, air and heat

How to store it

Keep it away from light. Direct sunlight makes the oil deteriorate, so keep it in its amber bottle.

Keep air out. Close the cap tightly after each use, and for the best quality, finish it within 6 months of opening.

Keep it cool. Low-temperature pressed oils are sensitive to heat, so refrigerate after opening. In the fridge or in winter it may turn cloudy or thicken; that's normal and doesn't affect quality.

Product FAQ

Can’t find yours? Just ask us.

Ask a Question
Why does sediment form in the oil?

The oil is pressed at the lowest possible temperature, so the sesame's natural fiber stays in. Because Happy Jeong-Eun's oils aren't refined, bleached or deodorized, these fine particles and trace nutrients slowly settle to the bottom as a harmless sediment.

Is the sediment safe to eat?

Yes. Unlike the dark sediment in heavily roasted oils, the white sediment here is the sesame's own fiber, rich in protein, lignans, vitamins and other plant nutrients. Just shake the bottle before use to enjoy the full flavor.

How long does the oil last after opening?

All oils start to oxidize once they're exposed to air. Unopened, it's good until the date printed on the bottle. Once opened, finish it within 6 months for the best flavor and quality.

How do I store this?

Before opening, keep it in a cool, dark place. After opening, store it in the fridge. It may turn cloudy or thicken in the cold; that's normal and doesn't affect quality.
